Bursary Award Information

The Bursary will not be awarded in 2022 due to school disruptions caused by the pandemic.

Each Year the Newmarket Garden Club awards a deserving student of a local Newmarket high school a $800 bursary. The bursary is awarded to a graduating Newmarket secondary school student based on the following requirements:

  • Student must be entering an accredited Canadian post secondary institution
  • At least one course of study must be related to the field of Horticulture, Horticultural Science, Landscape Design, Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Science, Conservation, Agronomy or other related programs as approved by the Bursary Committee.
  • Demonstration of financial need.
  • Must be a student attending a Newmarket Secondary School.
  • Submission of an essay outlining community involvement, leadership roles, volunteer experience and extracurricular activities.
  • Submission of school transcripts, proof of post secondary school acceptance and letters of reference.

2023 applications will be available to students through their local High School Guidance Department the first week of February, 2023. Deadline for 2023 applications is April 30. No exceptions
